Path to FOSS

After the inaugural meet up of sl-gtug there has been no big meet up there were really small coffee shop type meet ups were held because there were some issues regarding a proper place but they are all over now we could be able to held a meet up titled Path to FOSS on 4th of May 2010 with the collaboration of Computer Society(CompSoc) of University of Colombo and it was held at the V.K.Samaranayake Auditorium of University of Colombo School of Computing(UCSC)
the presentation was done by Keshan Sanjaya Sodimana(me) the meet up was bit different, there we talked about how we could contribute to an open source project in essence how we use things like Google code, sourceforge effectively and also the open source programs in Google.
 it is pleasure that there were quite a lot of number came for this meet up so, special thanks should goes to CompSoc and UCSC.

Inaugural Meeting of SL-GTUG

Technology is always changing it is developing day by day there is no end for the technology so, as technology enthusiast we formed a user group for Sri Lankans as Sri Lanka Google Technology User Group

On 6th of August 2009 SL-GTUG organized their first meet up successfully. It was held at University of Colombo School of Computing. In the first meeting Android and Google Wave were discussed after introducing the audience to Google Technology User Groups.

Android session

Android session was conducted by Tharidu Fernando since Android is new to Sri Lanka he started his session from the very basics then gradually move to some advanced codings.

Google Wave ,the next generation of communication, was also discussed at this meeting it was done by Keshan Sodimana since wave is new and still in developer preview not many people have wave accounts so, there were no one except the speaker had wave accounts so, he had to demonstrate how wave works. it took a while to show all the existing features and then move to some extension developing. first discussed the Embed API and then had a quick look at the Robot API as well.
   

 
  
  
at the end of the day it was wrapped up successfully with good feed backs from the audience.
